Vanessa Kubota Joins Dickinson Wright Phoenix Office

Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Vanessa Kubota has joined the firm’s Phoenix office as an Associate.

Vanessa focuses her practice on litigation and government enforcement matters. She previously served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice, entering through the DOJ Honors program in 2023. Vanessa appeared in federal court daily for a multitude of matters, including three federal jury trials. She also has experience in appellate advocacy, including arguing on behalf of the United States before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and authoring several successful appeals. Between her clerkship and her time at the DOJ, Vanessa worked briefly for Arizona’s Voice for Crime Victims, where she successfully petitioned for review before the Arizona Supreme Court.

After graduating law school in 2021, Vanessa served for two years as a judicial law clerk to Vice Chief Judge David D. Weinzweig of Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals, where she further developed her research, writing, and appellate advocacy skills. Admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, and the Arizona District Court, Vanessa approaches her work with careful analysis and a strong commitment to written and oral advocacy. 

Vanessa is Proof Editor of the Federal Bar Association’s The Federal Lawyer and is an Associate Member of the National Crime Victim Bar Association. Her work has appeared in multiple publications, including Law360, the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, the Arizona State Law Journal, the ABA Journal, and others. Before law school she was a Fulbright Scholar at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi, India. Vanessa received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University.
