    Overview

    A partner in Dickinson Wright’s Toronto office, Mark Shapiro’s practice involves advising and representing clients in connection with all facets of business, contract, and shareholder-related litigation, with an emphasis on employment, real estate litigation, mortgage enforcement, and debt collection. Mark has extensive experience litigating cases involving wrongful dismissal claims and breaches of non-solicitation and non-competition agreements.

    Experience

    • Practice involves advising and representing clients in connection with all facets of business, contract and shareholder related litigation, with an emphasis on employment, real estate litigation, mortgage enforcement and debt collection.
    • Employment law practice includes drafting, reviewing and advising clients in respect of employment, confidentiality, non-solicitation and non-competition agreements.
    • Extensive experience litigating cases involving wrongful dismissal claims and breaches of non-solicitation and non-competition agreements.
    • Regularly acts on behalf of institutional, syndicated and private mortgage lenders in enforcing and realizing upon mortgage security by way of Ontario Court proceedings involving power of sale, foreclosure or the appointment of receivers.
    • Legal counsel to the Sheriff of the City of Toronto in connection with administering and conducting land sales pursuant to the Ontario Execution Act.
    • Represents many domestic and foreign companies and collection agencies in enforcing security and collecting debt in Ontario.
    • Acts on behalf of all types of businesses in connection with commercial and real estate related matters.
    • Often called upon to litigate disputes involving the interpretation of insurance contracts, as well as prosecuting and defending professional malpractice and personal injury claims.
