Toronto Lawyer Wendy Hulton was recently interviewed on Global News.
The interview focuses on the questions and concerns surrounding workplace policies in regards to Canada’s upcoming legalization of cannabis and the differences between recreational and medicinal use.
“It’s a question of adjusting our attitudes because recreational cannabis is going to be much akin to alcohol consumption and right now employers have a very strong grasp of how they deal with alcohol in the workplace, but it’s just a matter of educating both employers and employees on cannabis as well.”
In terms of medicinal versus recreational cannabis, Hulton also explains how employers will have to differentiate between the two.
“Depending on what type of job the individual is doing there will have to be different types of accommodation from the employer for medicinal use,” said Ms. Hulton. “There has to be zero accommodation for recreational use.”
