Paul Bain was recently quoted in a Toronto Star article titled, “Why North York’s giant bear sculpture is now at the centre of a $1-million lawsuit.” It ‘bears’ repeating: copyright doesn’t protect ideas. The case involves Toronto-based artist and designer David Blackmore and DW client who was involved in the creation and design of the ‘Seated Bear and Friends’ sculpture (and many others) with the defendant, but was excluded from the deal negotiations, receiving no credit, nor proper compensation.
